Civil Lines MLA Gopal Sharma,

Civil Lines MLA Gopal Sharma, while discussing the grant demands of the Urban Development Department in the Assembly on Friday, not only drew the attention of the government towards the various problems of his constituency, but also demanded the renaming of major roads, buildings, colonies etc., which have become symbols of the mentality of slavery in Jaipur. Gopal Sharma started his speech with the slogan ‘Jai Shri Ram’. He raised the demand in the House that the road named after Mirza Ismail, who conspired to keep Jaipur away from the freedom movement and was a slave of the capitalists, should be renamed as Bhagwan Govinddev Marg. Apart from this, the name of Ramganj Bazaar should be changed to Prabhu Ramganj Bazaar, Albert Hall Museum to Sawai Ram Singh Museum, King Edward Memorial Yadgar to Girdharilal Bhargava Bhawan, Chaugan Stadium to Bhanwarlal Sharma Stadium and Hatwara connected to Civil Lines to Haripura, Hasanpura to Sant Ravidas Nagar and Bharat Jodo Setu to Vikasit Bharat Setu. Along with this, Bhatta Basti should be changed to Sant Kabir Basti.

Gopal Sharma also raised the issue of housing facility for journalists and said that for convenience, activity and prosperity, land should be sought in Civil Lines Assembly constituency and a multi-storey residential complex should be built for journalists, which should be near the Assembly and Secretariat. This should not affect the demand for plots included in the journalists’ schemes. While considering journalists, the issue of accreditation should not be applied as most of the journalists are non-accredited.
