The year 2022 will be remembered in history as the golden year of Delhi Public School, RK Puram as it celebrates fifty years of being the epitome of excellence. The institution has exhibited brilliance in the field of academics as well as sports and co curricular activities since its inception in 1972. It is an institution that has emerged stronger and more resilient in the face of adversities while inculcating amongst the students the motto of ‘Service before Self’. It has always encouraged the students more than anything else to be good human beings first and cultivate good values and morals, which is the fabric of society. The success and accomplishments of DPS RK Puram’s alumni and students on the global platform is a fitting tribute to an institution that has stood the test of time. The celebration of this odyssey of fifty years commenced on the 2 October 2021, as the curtain raiser to the grand celebrations planned in the month of August 2022 to commemorate the golden year of DPS RK Puram.

Celebrating the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie, the school will be organising a ‘Golf Tournament’ on 18 August 2022 for its alumni and their families at the Qutab Golf Club, New Delhi. This will be followed by the ‘Back to School’ programme in the evening where the members of the DPS RK Puram family will be welcomed inside the school premises on 18 and 19 August 2022. The alumni will get an opportunity to take a walk down memory lane at their alma mater and revel in the sweet nostalgia of the good old days with their fellow alumni while they listen to music and regale over food and beverages at the food court. The school, in collaboration with AIIMS and ORBO AIIMS, will also be organising a blood donation campaign and an organ pledge drive, keeping up with the tradition of the school motto of ‘service before self’.

To foster the bonds of unity and solidarity, the school will be hosting, ‘The Great DPS RKP Run’ for the alumni, the students, and the parents on the 19 August 2022. An occasion to cherish the feeling of togetherness and pride associated with being a member of the Dipsites’ family that would encourage every participant to perform to the best of their abilities. A noble cause to rejoice the coming together of Dipsites across batches, not with the purpose of winning, but with the purpose of completing the marathon together as kith and kin.

A cultural extravaganza is being planned for 20 and 21 August 2022, where the students of the school and the alumni will come together to perform a magnificent depiction of ‘Krishna Leela’ as the world celebrates Janamasthami that week. This will be a fantastic opportunity for the students of the school to learn and be inspired by the alumni while performing together on the same stage and forming an everlasting bond that transcends time and space. The energy and excitement of the celebrations will give way to an Alumni dinner, planned on 20 August 2022. The globe will shrink under one roof as Dipsites join in from all over the world for an evening of euphoria and elation.

The grandeur of this journey will come to the fore through a documentary and a coffee table book as a humble attempt to encapsulate the largeness, the vastness, and the depth that DPS, RK Puram stands for. The celebration will be sealed with a wish in every heart and a prayer on every tongue that the glory of the next fifty years outshine the journey of the previous fifty. The visionaries that lead DPS, RK Puram today, the dreams that the Dipsite of today holds, together with its valued parent fraternity, are sure to look back upon this year as merely the sowing of a seed for a remarkable journey when they witness the celebration of the 100th year of Delhi Public School, RK Puram.
