Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight has been chosen to write the script for the next James Bond film, according to Variety. Acclaimed filmmaker Denis Villeneuve will direct the movie.
The new 007 movie is being produced by Amy Pascal of Pascal Pictures and David Heyman of Heyday Films. Steven Knight is best known for creating the BAFTA-winning crime drama Peaky Blinders, which starred Cillian Murphy. Knight has also written and produced several acclaimed television series like See (Apple TV+), SAS: Rogue Heroes (BBC), This Town (BBC), The Veil (FX), All the Light We Cannot See (Netflix), and A Thousand Blows (Disney+).
He also co-created the iconic international quiz show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?
Knight’s first film, Dirty Pretty Things, directed by Stephen Frears, won four British Independent Film Awards, earned a Humanitas Prize, and got an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay.
His other notable screenwriting works include Eastern Promises and Spencer, both Oscar-nominated. He also directed and wrote Hummingbird, Locke, and Serenity.
Knight is currently working on the much-anticipated Peaky Blinders movie for Netflix, as well as a historical drama series called House of Guinness.
Last month, Denis Villeneuve officially joined as director for James Bond’s 26th installment. The studio is moving quickly, aiming for a 2028 release, and now seeks to finalize the actor who will take over the legendary role from Daniel Craig.
