Sarah Jessica Parker, best known for her iconic role as Carrie Bradshaw, has revealed that she has no intention of rewatching either Sex and the City or its sequel And Just Like That…. The actress, now 60, said she does not “find it pleasant” to see herself on screen and feels it would become even harder with time.

Parker first stepped into Carrie Bradshaw’s shoes in 1995 when the original HBO series debuted, and she carried the character through six seasons, two feature films, and the revival series. But now that her journey as Carrie has ended, she feels revisiting those moments isn’t something she would enjoy.

Watching Herself Feels “Unpleasant”

During a Q&A session hosted by Threads in New York earlier this week, Parker was asked if she would consider rewatching her shows. She answered: “No. I’ve been talked to about this by the best lungs, and they all have really good reasons why I should. I wouldn’t want my time back. It’s not like I would regret it. I don’t like watching myself. I don’t find it pleasant, it’s not fun for me. I don’t find it enjoyable.”

She added that the longer time passes, the more emotionally challenging it would be to look back: “And I think the further away it gets from me, the more complicated it would be for sentimental reasons, and maybe even for emotional reasons. It’s sort of a hard chapter, to try to make simple.”

John Corbett Tried to Persuade Her

When actor John Corbett returned to reprise his role as Aidan Shaw in And Just Like That…, he decided to rewatch the original Sex and the City. Parker revealed that Corbett urged her to watch at least a few episodes.

She recalled: “The beloved John Corbett, whom I’m so deeply fond of, said, ‘You just got to watch these four episodes,’ because when he came back, he watched everything. He was so swept away and so sentimental, and he was so proud of the work. I don’t want to say that it shouldn’t sound like he’s so proud of the work he did, but I think he didn’t realize how wonderful he was.”

Fans Remember More Than She Does

Parker admitted that her reluctance to revisit the shows makes fan encounters even more surprising. She said audiences often know the storylines, scenes, and lines far better than she does.

“They know my lines much better. I will remember circumstances, but they have the whole picture. They’re far more knowledgeable about it. I love it. They’ll tell me stuff, and I’m like, ‘Really? She said that? Oh my God. She said that to who?’”
