Priyanka Chopra’s manager, Anjula Acharia, has landed in controversy after crediting the actress for driving the success of the recently released action-comedy Heads of State. In a recent interaction, Anjula claimed that Priyanka had generated “more than double the buzz” compared to her co-stars John Cena and Idris Elba. This statement has sparked widespread criticism, with many calling it unfair to the film’s other lead actors.
While Priyanka did not directly address the controversy, she appeared to respond in her own way. On Instagram, she posted a cryptic story that read, “Sometimes you have to go backwards to go forward.” She followed it with another note that added, “For all those asking, yes I still don’t read my books backwards.” The posts left fans and followers speculating whether they were connected to her manager’s comments.
According to Variety, Acharia defended Priyanka’s contribution to the film’s popularity. She said, “I don’t think she would normally be credited for (the film’s success) because she’s not the lead. She’s not a ‘head of state.’ But in this case, the data doesn’t lie.” Her remarks were meant to highlight Priyanka’s global influence, but they instead triggered debate among film enthusiasts.
Released on July 2 on Prime Video, Heads of State is directed by Ilya Naishuller and stars John Cena, Idris Elba, and Priyanka Chopra Jonas in pivotal roles. The political action-comedy blends satire, international espionage, and high-octane drama.
The story follows two rival leaders, Derringer and Clarke, who are forced to team up to prevent a looming global disaster. Despite their clashing personalities and patriotic differences, they must work together to save the world. Along the way, they are supported by Agent Noel, played by Priyanka.
Packed with car chases, shootouts, witty banter, and sharp commentary on global diplomacy, the film delivers both thrilling action and biting humor.
Priyanka Chopra, who last appeared in Heads of State, has several exciting projects ahead. She is set to star in SSMB28 with Mahesh Babu under the direction of S.S. Rajamouli. Another major Hollywood project in her pipeline is The Bluff, directed by Frank E. Flowers and produced by the Russo Brothers’ AGBO Productions.
Meanwhile, buzz around Rajamouli’s collaboration with Mahesh Babu continues to grow. On the actor’s birthday, Rajamouli revealed that the much-awaited project SSMB29 will have its first look unveiled in November 2025. Reports suggest the film may be titled Globetrotter, raising anticipation among fans.
