Washington DC [US], August 21 (ANI): Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, is eyeing a return to acting as she and her husband, Prince Harry, prepare to move back to the UK after six years in California, Variety has confirmed.
According to an Australian outlet, Markle has been “offered a role in an upcoming project based in the U.K.” Sources close to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have not denied the report, though further details about the project remain under wraps.
Markle is best known for playing Rachel Zane in the legal drama ‘Suits’, in which she starred for seven seasons from 2011 to 2018. She stepped back from acting after marrying Prince Harry in 2018, though she has continued to appear on screen in other capacities.
She is set to make a cameo as herself in the upcoming Amazon MGM comedy Close Personal Friends, which stars Brie Larson and Lily Collins. Markle also recently hosted the Netflix lifestyle series ‘With Love, Meghan’, which coincided with the launch of her lifestyle brand, As Ever, and appeared as a guest judge on MasterChef Australia.
The possible acting return comes after Harry and Meghan announced their plans to return to England. The couple is expected to be back on UK soil in the coming weeks, with their children, Archie and Lilibet, set to begin school in September, according to Variety.
The move is expected to be for an “extended period”, although the couple will retain their home in Montecito, California. They do not intend to relocate their production banner Archewell or lifestyle brand As Ever to the UK.
Harry and Meghan will continue as non-working royals after stepping down from their royal duties in 2020 and subsequently moving to California.
Markle’s potential return to a UK-based acting project would mark a significant development in her career after stepping away from regular acting roles following her marriage to Prince Harry, according to Variety. (ANI)
