John Krasinski has officially confirmed that the third installment of his popular horror series A Quiet Place is in the works. The actor-director shared the news with fans through an Instagram post, which included an eerie teaser poster and the much-awaited release date. The third film in the franchise will hit theatres on July 9, 2027.
Krasinski, who directed and co-wrote the first two films, will once again take the director’s seat for A Quiet Place III, as reported by Deadline. While the storyline remains under wraps, the film is expected to continue the terrifying narrative of sound-sensitive alien creatures that hunt humans.
It’s still unclear whether key cast members from the earlier films—Emily Blunt, Noah Jupe, and Millicent Simmonds—will reprise their roles. Krasinski, who played the father in the original movie, is unlikely to return as his character was killed off. However, fans may still see him through flashback sequences, a technique the franchise has used before.
The first A Quiet Place introduced audiences to the Abbott family struggling to survive in silence on a rural farm, hiding from deadly monsters with ultra-sensitive hearing. The second film picked up right after the father’s death, with the mother and children leaving home to face new threats in a wider world.
So far, the franchise has earned more than $900 million globally, according to Variety. The next chapter will follow the 2024 prequel A Quiet Place: Day One, which explored the beginning of the alien invasion.
The upcoming film is being produced by Krasinski and Allyson Seeger under their company Sunday Night Productions, along with Platinum Dunes. This project marks Krasinski’s return to the main storyline after stepping away for the spin-off.
