Astronomer CEO Andy Byron and Chief People Officer Kristin Cabot unwittingly became the subject of media attention after an instant at a Coldplay concert sparked mass social media speculation. The two appeared on the eventâs âkiss cam,â causing viral reactions and online gossip about an affair.
The Viral Coldplay Moment
At Coldplayâs concert at Gillette Stadium in Boston, the groupâs lead singer, Chris Martin, took advantage of the stadiumâs âkiss camâ to interact with the audience. As the camera focused on Byron and Cabot, Martin made the remark, âOh, look at these two.â But their shocked reaction was noticed. Byron ducked out of view instantly, and Cabot turned her back and covered her face.
Martinâs subsequent remark, âOh, what. either theyâre having an affair or theyâre very shy,â was the icing on the cake. The segment went viral and began to ignite whatâs now being referred to as âColdplayGateâ on social media.
