Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 7, hosted by the legendary Mohanlal, officially began on Sunday. Among the new contestants stepping into the house is Gizele Thakral, a familiar face for reality TV fans. Before entering the house, Gizele shared her thoughts in an interview with Hindustan Times.
Interestingly, Gizele was also a wild card contestant on Bigg Boss Season 9, which aired in 2015 and was hosted by Salman Khan. Now, nearly a decade later, she is back—more confident, more determined, and emotionally connected to this version of the show.
Gizele has featured in several reality shows over the years, including Survivor India – The Ultimate Battle (2012), Welcome – Baazi Mehmaan Nawazi Ki (2013), and Comedy Nights Bachao (2016). But Bigg Boss holds a special place in her journey.
“I’ve always enjoyed doing them,” she said about reality shows. However, she admitted, “a lot has changed in Bigg Boss from the season I was part of to what we see on television today.”
Despite the changes, she feels a strong emotional pull. “It definitely feels nostalgic to be entering the Bigg Boss house again after a decade,” Gizele shared, adding, “but this time I’m even more determined to prove my mettle.”
She said her strategy remains the same—staying authentic. “One thing that hasn’t changed is that audiences connect the most when you’re completely authentic and real. I’ll be true to myself just like I was in the previous season,” she said. She also expressed hope that her supporters would stay by her side: “I hope my fans continue to root for me like they did in my previous projects.”

During her stint in Bigg Boss 9, Gizele entered as a wildcard but had to exit early due to an injury. She now sees this new season as a second chance.
“I’ve always felt I didn’t get my fair chance to show what I’m truly capable of in that game,” she recalled. This time, she said, “I’m ready to give it everything I’ve got and make the most of the opportunity.”
Looking forward to the challenge, she added, “I’m genuinely excited to experience this new format and can’t wait to win the hearts of audiences.” Her ultimate aim? “Of course, my biggest goal is to stay injury-free and give my best so I can finally bring home the trophy.”
Though she was born in Rajasthan and raised in Punjab and Dubai, Gizele revealed an unknown part of her identity—she’s half Malayali. Her mother, she shared, always hoped Gizele would do something in the Malayalam language.
“Not many people know it, but I'm half Malayali. My mom has always wanted me to do something in the language. This felt like the perfect opportunity to honour that wish,” she said, expressing excitement about the chance to reconnect with her roots.
She also confidently dismissed the idea that language might be a barrier. When asked about the show’s rule requiring Malayalam, she said, “Not at all!”
Gizele grew up watching Mohanlal’s movies and is genuinely thrilled to be part of a show hosted by him. “I’ve grown up watching Mohanlal’s films. He's truly a legendary actor, and his screen presence has always been inspiring,” she said with admiration.
She revealed that she even watched the last season of Bigg Boss Malayalam because of him. “I watched the last season as well, and I feel he brings a wonderful sense of calm and wisdom to the show,” she explained.
For Gizele, Mohanlal is more than a host. “He’s a patient and supportive host who genuinely guides the contestants rather than just presenting the show,” she said, adding, “I’m really looking forward to experiencing his energy and mentorship this season, too.”
