The film's legacy was celebrated in London as Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol reunited to unveil a bronze statue of Raj and Simran at Leicester Square, marking an historic moment for Indian films on the global stage.
This year marks 30 years of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. Its emotional appeal, iconic dialogues and unforgettable music have allowed the love story to remain relevant to audiences worldwide.
The film hit the screens in October 1995, and soon its box-office run attained the status of a legend. It continued running for years at Mumbai's Maratha Mandir, reflecting the unmatched cultural impact of the film.
The life-sized bronze statue now proudly sits at Leicester Square in London, placed alongside other global cinematic figures who shaped film history. The location is symbolic, since parts of DDLJ were filmed around the very same neighborhood.
Shah Rukh Khan shared pictures from the ceremony and added one of Raj's favourite lines to the captions: "Bade bade deshon mein, aisi chhoti chhoti baatein hoti rehti hain."

He thanked the Heart of London Business Alliance in the UK for this honor the movie received and mentioned how emotional that moment was. Kajol, too, felt the poignancy of the tribute as it reminded her of their journey and that of the audience with Raj and Simran.
DDLJ was directed by Aditya Chopra and marked his directorial debut. His vision combined charm, humour, and family values and thus told a story that touched hearts across continents.
