Haryana Assembly Speaker Gian Chand Gupta on Friday inaugurated the old age home in Sector-27, offering a gift to senior citizens. The Municipal Corporation built this facility at an approximate cost of Rs 12 crore, providing 92 rooms for 184 residents in an 8-storey building equipped with a lift, kitchen, and all essential amenities. The building also includes parking for 100 vehicles. Municipal Corporation Mayor Kulbhushan Goyal and Municipal Corporation Commissioner Sachin Gupta were present during the inauguration. Gupta personally inspected the Old Age Home and evaluated the facilities available for the elderly.
During the event, Gupta highlighted the steps taken by the current state government to enhance the respect and comfort of senior citizens. He mentioned the unprecedented increase in pension under the Old Age Samman Allowance Scheme, now providing Rs 3000 per month. Additionally, he mentioned the initiation of the Haryana Chief Minister Teerth Darshan Scheme, allowing senior citizens to visit religious places.
Expressing concern, Gupta acknowledged the unfortunate reality that some elders today find themselves in need of senior citizen homes. Despite dedicating their lives to raising their children and providing them with every comfort, some parents are compelled to leave their homes. The construction of this old age home aims to provide a suitable living space for such elderly individuals.
