Nothing is better than investing in skincare that is skin-friendly, gentle, vegan, and well, gender-neutral. In times when people are too serious about skincare, it’s essential to own a range that ticks all checkboxes. To dig deeper into what these boxes are and how to create a gender-neutral and all-inclusive skincare range, we spoke to Divya Malpani, Founder & CEO, Skinvest for the must-know details!
Question. How do you ensure that your products are truly gender-neutral and suitable for all?
Answer: Creating inclusive and effective skincare has always been a top priority at Skinvest. We focus on the science of skin health, not targeted towards genders. We address concerns that are common in Indian skin with an innovative twist without them being affiliated with any particular gender. We avoid gendered language, imagery, and colours in our packaging and marketing communications. We prioritize ingredients with proven benefits for various skin concerns, regardless of gender and avoid ingredients with potential gender-specific hormonal effects.
Question: Can you share insights into the formulation process for your vegan skincare products and the selection of clean ingredients?
Answer: We are passionate about creating high-performing, vegan skincare that’s kind to both your skin and the planet. We prioritize plant-derived extracts, derivatives of oils, and butter that are a combination of clean and new-age ingredients along with traditional Indian botanicals. We steer clear of harsh chemicals, sulfates, parabens, phthalates and synthetic fragrances that can potentially irritate sensitive skin.
Question: What advice do you have for individuals looking to transition to a vegan skincare routine or prioritize clean beauty products?
Answer: Start Slow & Gentle. Don’t overhaul your entire routine at once. Swap out one product at a time to see how your skin reacts. This helps identify any potential sensitivities to new ingredients.Identify your skin type (dry, oily, combination, etc.) and specific concerns (acne, wrinkles, etc.). This helps choose products that address your unique needs. Building a skincare routine takes time and experimentation. Don’t get discouraged if you don’t see results overnight. Be patient and consistent with your new routine.
