Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot seems to have achieved a victory in what many political pundits thought was his battle for political survival. Political observers believe that though the fight has not come to an end yet, it is no less than a political victory for Gehlot that the deadlock over the convening session of the Assembly has ended.

Gehlot has made a meaningful and big statement saying that if the media cooperates with him, Rajasthan can be the turning point for national politics. What he means is that Rajasthan will set such a political direction at the national level that the Congress will draw strength from the state to give real fight to BJP. It goes without saying that the Congress is in a bad shape and is in need of what could give it fresh lease of life.

Sources say that Gehlot can be the right person to play a big role in the revival plan. A day after the Governor gave his nod for the Assembly session, Gehlot seemed relaxed. He was not seen attacking his state opponents. Observers have started making their interpretations of what Gehlot said. He targeted PM Narendra Modi and the BJP central leadership. He didn’t name Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. He accused Mayawati of working under pressure of the BJP. Gehlot even said that the MLAs of the Sachin Pilot camp can come back after apologies to the high command.

There was a positive result of this statement as Pilot congratulated the new PCC chief Govind Singh Dotasara through tweet. Dotasara also urged him to be back with Congress. This led to another round of speculations.

Sources say the party is still keen on leaving a door open for the rebels. No wonder Gehlot has stopped attacking them. They add that the Congress has framed its future strategy on the suggestion of NCP leader Sharad Pawar.
