Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, who has won his first big political battle in the state after becoming the CM, will soon prove his government’s majority in the Assembly. After meeting with legislators, the CM has made it clear that he will bring a confidence motion.

Earlier, the BJP also announced to bring a no-confidence motion. It is believed that Gehlot will bring confidence motion and prove his majority on 14 August.

After coming back to the party fold, Sachin Pilot was on Thursday at the residence of Gehlot for participating in the meeting of Congress Legislature Party (CLP). In the presence of representatives of the high command, K.C. Venugopal and Avinash Pandey, Pilot shook hand with Gehlot, sporting smiles on his face.

On the other hand, the BJP legislature party meeting was also held. The centre of attraction of this meeting was former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje. The BJP leadership felt relieved when all the legislators owing allegiance to Raje attended the meet. Since the anxiety was writ large in the BJP camp, three big leaders, including Narendra Singh Tomar, had been sent by the high command to oversee the meeting in Jaipur.

These leaders will submit their report to the BJP high command. BJP is definitely in for a shock after its “Mission Lotus” failed. The BJP wanted to topple the government and subsequently form its own. Secondly, its plan was also to get rid of Raje in Rajasthan’s politics. But Gehlot’s “ChankayaNiti” derailed all plans of the saffron party.

Raje remained neutral in the entire episode, and Gehlot kept his house in order till the end. It so happened that at one point, the BJP was apprehensive about losing its legislators in the battle, so it started shifting some of them to Gujarat.

Even rebels relented and were left with no option but to be back to party. Sachin Pilot’s meeting with Rahul Gandhi was fixed only after green light from Jaipur. After return to the party, Pilot made certain statements that did not down well with the high command. MLAs of the Gehlot faction are said to have complained to the high command about the same. Sources say that the committee set up by high command to look into grievances will take time to prepare its report.

It will talk to all the 125 MLAs, including independents. The panel will ascertain what the organisation did in the last one year and what was the role of Pilot and his MLAs over the last four months during the corona crisis. However, the Congress was united in the meeting today. Suspension of Vishvendra Singh and Bhanwarlal Sharma has been revoked. The BJP has decided to bring a no-confidence motion against the government. It will hold a meeting of MLAs at 9.30 am on Friday. At the same time, Gehlot has decided to bring a confidence motion. With 125 MLAs supporting the government, Ashok Gehlot is set to prove majority in the Assembly.
