The Andhra High Court has issued an injunction against any reporting by the media and the social media, asking them not to publish the FIR copy and matters related to the Amravati land scam. “It is directed that the news in regard to registration of FIR or in the context of the said Fir shall not be made public in any electronic, print or social media, to foist the office of a former Advocate General and also with respect to the other alleged accused persons,” the HC order said. This move has now created ripples across political and media circles and has also kicked up a wider debate in the media, legal and political fraternity. Meanwhile, Mithun Reddy who is YSR Congress party’s floor leader in the Lok Sabha raised the issue in Parliament expressing his dissent over stifling the media by the High court. He said that the enforcement of law should be the same for the prime Minister and a common man.
