Nine people have been killed after a fire broke out at a chemical godown. The massive fire engulfed a chemical godown on the first floor of a four-storey building at Nampally in Hyderabad earlier today. Several fire tenders rushed to the spot and the blaze was brought under control after hours of dousing efforts.

The rescue teams succeeded in rescuing 21 people, 10 people were found unconscious. As per Additional Commissioner of Police (Law & Order) Vikram Singh Mann, three people have sustained burn injuries and are under treatment.

Union Minister G Kishan Reddy has questioned the government of Telangana about what it has done to avoid such incidents. Kishan Reddy said that “the Government will be giving compensation to the citizens who were injured in this accident, and also to those who have died. The central government and the state government will be providing compensation to the family of the deceased and the kins family.”

Union Minister Kishan Reddy mentioned further that he has written a letter to the Chief Secretary saying that there should be an urgent need of listing the warehouses which were there in residential areas just to avoid all these kinds of accidents from happening further.

The fire broke out in one of the busiest areas in Hyderabad. All the routes coming to the lane were sealed out by the police to avoid any kind of stampede situation because Central ministers and State ministers have come to take a note of the situation.

The building owner is currently on the run as he was using the ground floor as a godown for oil drums and cans.The repair work of a car was going on in the godown which caused the fire. Within no time, the fire engulfed other floors of the building and caused six deaths.
