In a surge of violence in Manipur, at least five people were killed after militants launched a series of attacks in the region. The violence erupted when armed militants entered the home of a resident living alone in an isolated area and shot him dead. The militants then fired two long-range rockets into civilian areas, leading to further casualties.

According to police sources, one individual was killed in his sleep as a result of the rocket attacks, while four others died during a subsequent exchange of fire between armed factions from the warring communities. The intense gunfight occurred in the hills approximately 7 kilometers from the district headquarters.

Manipur police reported that additional security forces have been deployed to conduct combing operations in the surrounding hill ranges. As part of the response, three bunkers—two at Mualsang village and one at Laika Mualsau village in Churachandpur—were destroyed by the militants.

The violence follows a troubling pattern of escalating aggression between rival groups. Police teams are actively engaged in efforts to restore order and secure the affected areas.
