French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal announced on Sunday that he will submit his resignation to President Emmanuel Macron on Monday morning, stating that he will continue to perform his duties as long as needed.

Attal’s comments came after France’s left-wing New Popular Front coalition won the most seats in the second round of parliamentary elections. Pollsters indicated that the coalition is on track for an unexpected win over the far-right National Rally (RN) party, although it falls short of an absolute majority in parliament.
