French President Emmanuel Macron, during a banquet hosted by President Droupadi Murmu, conveyed France’s support for India’s ambition to host the Olympic Games in the future. Macron, the chief guest at India’s 75th Republic Day celebrations, expressed eagerness to strengthen sports cooperation with India, stating, “We will definitely support your intention to organize the Olympic Games in India for the future.”

France, hosting the 2024 Olympics from July 26 to August 11, has affirmed its commitment to back India in organizing the multi-sport event. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier announced the government’s aim to host the 2036 Olympic Games during the Khelo India games inauguration on January 19, emphasizing efforts to provide international exposure and a conducive environment for athletes to excel. India showcased its best performance in the 2020-21 Tokyo Olympics, maintaining excellence in the Asian Games and Para Asian Games.
