The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) Jammu has filed a charge sheet against a former police personnel in connection with a bribery case.

The charge sheet was filed in response to FIR No. 03/2023 P/S ACB-Jammu under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, against Mohd Sultan, who was previously serving as a SgCT (Selection Grade Constable) posted as Munshi at Police Post Chniore, Jammu.

According to an official statement, the case originated from a complaint alleging that Munshi Sultan demanded a bribe of Rs 8,000 for releasing the complainant’s son from police custody.

“The complainant had already paid Rs 4,000 out of the demanded bribe of Rs 8,000, but the accused subsequently demanded an additional Rs 4,000 for the release of the son,” the statement revealed.

Upon receiving the complaint, the ACB swiftly launched an investigation and set up a trap. During this operation, Sultan was apprehended red-handed while demanding and accepting the bribe. The amount was recovered from his possession in the presence of independent witnesses. “After completing the investigation and obtaining prosecution sanction from the competent authority, the chargesheet was presented before the court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption Jammu for judicial determination,” the statement concluded. This development highlights the ACB’s commitment to combating corruption and ensuring accountability within law enforcement agencies.
