Haryana State Cooperative and Marketing Federation Limited (HAFED) has come up with a plan to sell fortified flour following the successful trial conducted recently. The flour will be made up of at least ten different grains including wheat, barley, chana, soyabean, jawar, ragi, maize, oat, shyama tulsi and psyllium husk. The HAFED has made elaborate arrangements including marketing, packaging before the official launching of grain. The trial process of the upcoming flour was completed nearly 2 weeks ago. The flour was distributed at least among 200 people randomly and the feedback clearly indicated that the people were satisfied with the quality of the flour which made the department launch it in the market. Disclosing the information regarding the same, DK Behra, Managing Director, HAFED, said that the agency will sell the fortified flour below 50 Rs per Kg while a string of private companies are selling the fortified flour from 60 to 80 per Kg which is much higher and makes it out of reach for poor people. He added that in wake of the economic conditions of all sections of the society, the HAFED has decided to keep the prices along with the best nutrition quality of the floor with a no profit no loss strategy.

It is worth mentioning that the HAFED added at least 35 percent other grains excluding wheat.
