Following the debacle in assembly elections held in five states, the Congress is on the back foot and forced to mull over its political failure. Amidst the ongoing scenario, the discussion pertaining to G-23, known as change seeker or a group of disgruntled leaders of the Congress, continues to surface after G-23 conducted a meeting on recent Friday. In continuation to this, what question arises here is what will be the stance of the Congress stalwart Bhupender Singh Hooda, the Leader of Opposition in Haryana, Bhupender Singh Hooda who also belongs to the G-23 faction. It is a noticeable fact that Hooda had joined Ghulam Nabi Azad and 20 leaders demanding a change in the party’s leadership.

Everyone is familiar enough with the fact that Hooda is not in the good books of the party high command as well as the Gandhi Family having a stronghold on the party after Hooda had joined the G-23 writing a letter to party chief Sonia Gandhi seeking clarity on leadership in August 2020. Following this, a string of political incidents occurred witnessing the widened rift between the Gandhi family and Hooda. The Feud among both factions continued to remain, but what is important to mention here is that the party high command along with the Gandhi family was never in a position to neglect Hooda as he has the stronghold on the party legislators and most of the party MLAs belong to his faction which forced to Gandhi family not to come up with strong decision against him. Apart from this, it is worth mentioning that. Other party stalwarts in the state namely Kumari Seleja, the state party president, Randeep Surjewal who is very close to Rahul Gandhi, Kiran Chaudahry, Kuldeep Bishnoi and Captain Ajay Yadav and Hooda are eyeball to eyeball in the state for the political survival in the party.

Priyanka Gandhi was accompanied by Deepender Singh Hooda, a Rajya Sabha MP and son of Bhupender Singh Hooda for most of the time during canvassing and campaigning in UP assembly elections. In wake of this, he is believed to be very close to her. Thus, in view of the present political climate, everyone is eyeing Bhupender Singh Hooda’s stance pertaining to G-23 following the huge defeat in assembly elections as the party high command is being believed to come up with a certain set of decisions in a bid to survive in political arenas in future.

Hooda was in the list of 30 star-campaigners along with Gulam Nabi Azad for the Congress in the assembly elections of UP held recently. After that, he had been in the centre of political talks.
