Following the defeat of Congress candidate Jai Prakash in the Adampur by-election, the party stalwarts continue to level serious allegations at each other everyday which is indicating the worsen scenario of the Congress in the state. The Congress leaders namely Kiran Chaudhary and Kumari Seleja have stood up together against party veteran and Leader of Opposition Bhupendra Singh Hooda accusing him of taking one sided decisions once again. According to political experts, if the party high command did not intervene in time, there could be a situation of disunity in the party. At present, the internal uproar in the Congress is between Hooda and Kumari Seleja, Kiran Chaudhary and Randeep Surjewala. None of these had joined the campaign for the party candidate which led to ruckus in Haryana Congress.
In this series, Kiran Chaudhary took on Uday Bhan, the state party president and a loyalist to Hooda on Sunday stating that she was not asked to campaign in Adampur by polls by him formally. Even he refrains to have dialogues with her. She further said that she has been MLA for five times and despite that she was kept away while finalizing the party contender for by polls.
Following the debacle, Jai Parkash who could not fight the bypolls successfully had emphasised that the Congress tried to take along all factions to put up a united front. He contacted two of the party leaders namely Selja and Kiran Choudhary to campaign for him but despite that no one did respond did not respond. They were non-committal. We did our best.
Earlier, Udaybhan had refused to consider Kiran Chaudhary a bigwig in the party saying that Hooda is the face of the Party in Haryana. Thus, The infighting among all the seniors of the party is a battle for political existence and supremacy in the party, for which not even a slight chance of stopping seems at the moment. The ruling BJP is keeping a close eye on the ongoing infighting among the Congress leaders and the same is most likely to get the BJP political mileage ahead of forthcoming assembly polls to be slated in 2022. Besides, all the senior leaders in the Congress are considering themselves as contenders for the post of CM.
Over the widened rift among the Congress leaders, the BJP leader and the state education minister Kanwar Pal took a dig at the main opposition party saying it is a divided house in the state. In case Kiran Chaudhary is willing to join the BJP, She would be most welcomed. Thus, to an extent this discord within the Congress is a profitable deal for the BJP in
many ways.
