A day after Shiv Sena leader Sudhir Suri was shot dead in Amritsar, a Facebook post said that Canada based gangster Lakhbir Singh, alias Landa Harike, has taken the responsibility of the  killing.

The Facebook post read that the muirder was committed by “our brothers”.  The post further also threatened to kill those “who speak against the kaum or any religion”.  “By increasing security, they should not think that they are safe. Those brothers who we stand with will be supported till our last breath. It is just the beginning, taking rights is still pending,” the post read.

The otherwise tight lipped police have although said that they are examining the authenticity of the Facebook post. “So far, we haven’t booked Landa in this case. We are verifying the Facebook post. It is not clear if it is fake or real,” said deputy commissioner of police (DCP-investigation) Mukhwinder Singh Bhullar.

In other major development to the case, a video clip has emerged which shows Sandeep Singh and his son meeting Waris Punjab De (WPD) chief Amritpal Singh  and according to the police sources, the video was shot on 29 October when Amritpal was in Amritsar.

Sudhir Suri was protesting outside Gopal Mandir when he was shot five times by garment shop owner Sandeep Singh with a 32-bore licensed weapon in broad day light. In retaliation, Suri’s supporters also fired back at Sandeep, however he escaped unhurt and was later nabbed by the Police.

The killing took place in front of the Police team in the busy market. A medical board has been formed for deceased leader’s autopsy and heavy security has been deployed outside the post-mortem house.
