The father of a 21-year-old woman from Madhya Pradesh informed the police that his daughter had been abducted and that he had received a ransom demand of ₹30 lakh.
According to his police complaint, he received images of his daughter with her hands and feet bound. He mentioned that his daughter was attending a coaching institute in Kota, Rajasthan.
However, the Kota police revealed that the preliminary investigation suggests no crime was perpetrated against her and that the kidnapping claim was fabricated.
Kota Superintendent of Police Amrita Duhan stated, “In the investigation so far, evidence shows that no crime has been committed against the girl and no kidnapping has taken place. From the evidence found so far, the incident appears to be false.”
Upon receiving the complaint from the girl’s father in Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh, teams were formed to investigate the matter.
During the investigation, it was discovered that she was residing with two friends in Indore, approximately 400 kilometers away from her parents’ residence.
One of the friends disclosed to the police that the girl and her companion desired to pursue studies abroad and sought financial assistance for this purpose.
The police failed to trace her whereabouts in Kota for the past 6-7 months, and she had not enrolled in any coaching institute or hostel in the city.
According to the police, the girl’s mother had enrolled her in a coaching institute on August 3, where she stayed until August 5 before returning to Indore, Madhya Pradesh.
To maintain the illusion of attending the institute, the girl sent messages regarding her test performances from a different phone number.
Subsequently, she orchestrated her own abduction. With the help of her friend, she staged photos of herself with bound hands and feet in their Indore apartment, which were then sent to her father along with the ransom demand of ₹30 lakh.
“I urge her to return home and seek assistance from the nearest police station,” Ms. Duhan appealed.
