In the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, approval has been given to 29 decisions, including providing free electricity to farmers.

In Uttar Pradesh, farmers will receive free electricity for irrigation. The decision of providing free power has been taken in the state cabinet meeting here on Tuesday.
In the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, approval has been given to 29 decisions, including providing free electricity to farmers. Private tube wells will now benefit from free electricity for irrigation starting from April 1, 2023. This means that any electricity bill for private tube wells after April 1, 2023, will be waived off. This decision will provide free electricity for irrigation to 14.73 lakh rural areas and 5188 private tube wells in urban areas. More than 1.5 crore farmers in the state will benefit from this scheme.
The government had announced in the budget to provide free electricity for irrigation to farmers. The announcement to provide free electricity for irrigation to farmers was also made in the BJP’s manifesto. A expenditure of Rs 2400 crore in 2023-24 and Rs 2615 crore in 2024-25 will be incurred on this scheme, which will be borne by the state government.

ONE TIME SETTLEMENT SCHEME FOR OVERDUE BILLS
After the cabinet, Energy Minister AK Sharma mentioned that if any farmer has arrears for their private tube well before April 1, 2023, the electricity department will bring a One Time Settlement (OTS) scheme for them.

METRO WILL RUN FROM CHARBAGH TO VASANKUNJ
People of the capital will be able to travel from Charbagh to Vasankunj via metro from mid-2027. The Yogi cabinet has approved Metro Phase-1B, East-West corridor from Charbagh to Vasankunj. The length of this metro corridor will be 11.165 kilometers, with 4.286 kilometers elevated route and 6.879 kilometers underground route. The total cost of this project will be Rs 5801.05 crore, and the target is to complete it by June 30, 2027.

APPROVAL RECEIVED FOR SCR FORMATION
The capital Lucknow and the districts surrounding it will be developed on the lines of NCR. For this, areas of Lucknow and adjacent districts will be included in the State Capital Region (SCR), allowing for the planned development of these areas. The cabinet has also approved the proposal related to the formation orders of Uttar Pradesh State Capital Region and other regional development authorities. Along with Lucknow, areas adjoining Lucknow from Barabanki, Raebareli, Hardoi, Sitapur, and Unnao will be included in the SCR. The objective is to facilitate planned development here on the lines of the Delhi NCR. With the cooperation of all authorities under this order, development projects will be further promoted.

INDIVIDUALS CAN CONTRIBUTE FOR DEVELOPMENT
People residing in India and abroad want to contribute to the development of their respective cities. To assist them, the state government will establish a platform. For this purpose, the cabinet has approved the Uttar Pradesh Matribhumi Arpan Yojana. Under this scheme, any individual or organization residing in India or abroad, if willing to undertake developmental work in a municipal body and is willing to bear 60% of the cost of the development work, then in such a situation, the state government will provide 40% of the funding. The chairperson of the Governing Council will be the Chief Minister.

HERE’S HOW YOU CAN HELP
If any individual or organization wants to donate for development works under the scheme, the money will be deposited in the escrow account opened for the scheme. Within 30 days of the money being deposited, the concerned district magistrate will have to provide all the administrative approvals. After that, work can begin. Works done under the scheme should not fall under any other scheme. For this, geo-tagging of every development work will be done.

DONORS TO BE INVITED AS CHIEF GUESTS
Under the scheme, donors for development projects will be invited as chief guests in government programs such as January 26, August 15, October 2, and other government programs. Additionally, support from Indian embassies in various countries will be sought for the promotion and publicity of the scheme.
District magistrates will inform people residing in different states and countries about this scheme by sending them letters.

METRO EXPANSION WILL EXTEND UP TO BODAKI
Expanding the metro facility in the NCR, the Aqua Line metro will be extended from the Depot Station in Greater Noida to the MMMTC Bodaki site. For this, the Cabinet granted approval to the DPR on Tuesday. The length of this project will be 2.6 kilometers, with a cost of 416.34 crore rupees.
