Various farmers’ organisations have accepted the invitation from the Central government to discuss the issue of new agricultural laws. A 7-member committee of farmers’ organisations would present its views on Wednesday in a meeting with the central government in Delhi on the farm laws.

A decision in this regard was taken at a meeting of several farmers’ bodies held at Kisan Bhawan here on Tuesday. However, the farmers’ demonstration and ‘Rail Roko’ agitation against new Agri laws would continue in the state. The next decision on the ‘Rail Roko’ movement would be taken in the meeting of the organisations of farmers to be held on 15 October.

Giving information about the decision taken in the meeting, Bharatiya Kisan Union (Rajewal) chief Balbir Singh Rajewal said that on Wednesday, various farmers’ organisations would reach Delhi and their 7-member committee would hold talks with the central government at Krishi Bhavan. This committee would apprise the Centre of its apprehensions about agricultural laws and demand their repeal.

Rajewal also said that the appeal made by Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to farmers not to stop the goods trains was also discussed during the meeting, but the final decision in this regard would be taken in the meeting of farmer unions to be held on 15 October, after the Delhi meeting.

It was also decided in the meeting that there would be a ‘Chakka Jam’ in the whole country on 5 November, by the farmers against the farm laws.
