A special task force has caught two men posing as doctors and starting a hospital in Mehdipatnam, Hyderabad. The accused were also treating patients with coronavirus, despite having no medical experience. The police have also seized an Aadhaar card and a registration certificate for “Sameer Hospital”, issued apparently by the District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO).

Both the accused, Mohd Shoaib Subhani and Mohd. Abdul Mujeeb, belong to Hyderabad. Subhani is a college dropout who previously started a school called “Global Techno School” in Mehdipatnam, while Mujeeb studied up to Class Xth before working as the Director of M.M. Hospital in Humayun Nagar.

According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mujeeb obtained an Aadhaar card with ‘Dr’ affixed to his name and used it to get a registration certificate from DMHO. “Similarly, Subhani also obtained a certificate and the duo started Sameer Hospital with the intention of making easy money,” the DCP said.

The police have written to the health department to initiate an enquiry in the issuance of the certificate by the DMHO. Meanwhile, doctors have advised people to stay alert about fake doctors looking to make a quick buck by exploiting the tense situation created by the coronavirus pandemic.
