Six individuals sustained injuries following an explosion at an explosives manufacturing factory in Chhattisgarh’s Bemetara district on May 25, 2024. According to officials, the blast occurred at a unit situated near Pirda village in the Berla development block of the district.

The area is gripped with fear following the explosion, compounded by the delay in the arrival of the rescue team, even three hours after the incident. Seven of the injured have been transported to Mekahara Hospital in Raipur, where one person succumbed to their injuries. Additionally, patients have been admitted to various private hospitals in Raipur. The Bemetara Collector stated that the SDM is on-site, but the extent of injuries remains uncertain. Many individuals are trapped under debris, with ongoing efforts to rescue them. Access to the company premises is restricted pending police administration arrival. Villagers estimate 15 to 20 workers were present during the blast, with gunpowder production occurring. Amidst chaos, official confirmation of casualties awaits the completion of rescue operations.
