A former  general manager of the Phoenix Suns who is also popular for being the ESPN analyst Lance Blanks left us for his heavenly abode. The professional basketball player who was drafted in 1990 in Round One as the 26th overall Pick died on May 3.

Ever since the tragic news broke, fans of the former star player flooded the social media platforms as they paid their condolences and tributes to Blanks. Meanwhile there are many who want to know more about the cause of his death, so, here’s all the information that one needs to know about Lance Blanks.

Cause of Death 

Following the tragic news which left us all disheartened, Blanks daughter Riley Blanks Reed came forward as she revealed the cause of his father’s death.

In a column for ESPN which was published on Tuesday, Riley revealed that his father died by suicide. In her column Riley penned “People will want more information. But the fact is we will never truly know why.”

She further added, “And we don’t need to. All we need to do is remember him, honor him, celebrate him and pour our love into the family that made him happy. All we need to know is that, oftentimes, the people in the most pain are the giants in our lives.”

For those unversed, the 56-year-old starred at the University of Texas from 1988 to 1989, leading the Longhorns to an Elite Eight berth in 1990 and being inducted into the school’s Hall of Honor in 2007. He was selected by the Pistons with the 26th overall pick in the 1990 NBA Draft.

He also played for the Timberwolves before moving on to the Continental Basketball Association and spending three seasons in Europe.
