In all awe and praise of the grand “bhoomi pujan” ceremony of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, former Pakistani spinner Danish Kaneria on Wednesday took to the microblogging site to tweet “Jai Shree Ram” from his official Twitter handle. The former cricketer also called Lord Ram his idol and the event a historic day for Hindus from all over the world.

“Today is the Historical day for Hindus across the world. Lord Ram is our ideal,” Kaneria wrote.

Kaneria, who was banned by the Pakistan Cricket Board in 2012, was in the news recently after he had admitted that he faced discrimination in the Pakistan team for being a Hindu and faced many hardships and struggles while he was in the team. The shocking claims made by him were later confirmed by Pakistani pacer Shoaib Akhtar who also revealed that Kaneria was mistreated by his teammates due to his religion.

“Zero tolerance policy only applies on Danish Kaneria not on others. Can anybody answer the reason why I got a life ban, not others? Do policies apply only on caste, colour and powerful background? I am Hindu and proud of it. That’s my background and my dharam,” Kaneria had said in a tweet.

Danish Kaneria was the second Hindu in the Pakistani cricket team after Anil Dalpat. He bagged 261 Test wickets for Pakistan during his 10-year international cricket career.
