Newly appointed Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Tarkishore Prasad speaks exclusively to The Daily Guardian about how he plans to lead the state and work on the model set by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Excerpts:

Q: How do you see this new phase of Bihar politics?

A: We are looking forward to making Bihar self-reliant and that is what our election platform was built upon. We, under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, want to move ahead with our development model.

Q: BJP has come out as the largest party in the NDA government. You have been a long-time worker of the party and known for your simplicity. Will you be taking the same approach in your leadership as the Deputy Chief Minister of the state?

A: This is what the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is all about. Even the smallest member can come forward with hard work. We shall work on the model set up by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and further work towards developing the state.
