Tragic Twin Landmine Explosions in Balochistan: 1 Fatality, 20 Injured

Thaikedar Naddi in Balochistan’s Duki district was rattled by twin landmine explosions, leaving one person dead and twenty others injured, as reported by ARY News. The sequence of events unfolded with the first explosion triggered by a truck striking a landmine. Subsequently, as bystanders gathered at the scene to assist, a second detonation occurred, exacerbating the casualties and chaos in the area.

The incident highlights the ongoing security challenges in Balochistan, where landmines pose a constant threat to civilians and travelers alike. The tragic events serve as a reminder of the urgent need for enhanced safety measures and awareness campaigns to mitigate the risks associated with such explosives in the region.

Police sources have confirmed that one fatality occurred in each of the landmine explosions. ARY News reports that the injured individuals are being transferred to nearby hospitals for medical treatment. Last month, a blast near a mosque along Quetta’s Kuchlak Road resulted in the death of one police officer and injuries to twenty others.

Rescue sources have indicated that twelve individuals, including five security personnel, sustained injuries in the incident. Subsequently, the injured were promptly transported to nearby medical facilities for further medical attention. Law enforcement agencies have cordoned off the site of the explosion and launched an investigation to ascertain its nature and cause, according to ARY News.

The province has experienced an uptick in terrorist activities in recent times. In February, a blast outside a political party’s office in Balochistan’s Pishin region resulted in the deaths of at least twelve individuals and left twenty-five others injured. Additionally, in another incident reported by ARY News, twelve people lost their lives, and several were injured in a blast near the JUI-F election office in Balochistan’s Qila Saifullah.

Amnesty International voiced apprehension in February regarding the “deadly and focused violence” observed in Balochistan.
