Pakistan: DSP Ahmed Karim Jilani arrested for smuggling Gutka

Ahmed Karim Jilani, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), encountered legal issues when caught in the act of smuggling Gutka and assorted drugs, as reported by ARY News.

Following the incident, Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Riffat Mukhtar swiftly responded by suspending DSP Ahmed Karim Jilani and directing him to report to the Central Police Office.

According to ARY News, DSP Jilani was apprehended by customs officials near Jamshoro while illegally transporting Gutka and various drugs.

IGP Riffat Mukhtar proceeded with additional measures by launching an investigation against the suspended DSP, appointing DIG Mirpurkhas Tanveer Alam Odho as the inquiry officer. Stressing the importance of a transparent inquiry, the IGP set a 15-day deadline for the inquiry report to be submitted.

Insiders familiar with the situation disclosed that a detailed charge sheet has been compiled against the suspended DSP, Ahmed Karim Jilani, comprising significant allegations.

According to police sources cited by ARY News, in reaction to the charges, senior police officials have instructed DSP Jilani to furnish an explanation within a seven-day period. Failure to adhere to this directive will lead to a unilateral decision being made based on the merits of the case.
