The National Human Rights Commission of India (NHRC) is actively engaged in building alliances and collaborating to enhance human rights and bolster the National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs) across the region. NHRC Chairperson Justice Arun Mishra and Secretary-General Bharat Lal recently participated in the ‘Regional Meeting’ of the Asia Pacific Forum (APF) of NHRIs held in Geneva, Switzerland.
NHRC India took to social media platform X to share updates about the event, highlighting the commitment of Justice Arun Mishra and Mr. Bharat Lal towards strengthening NHRIs and promoting human rights in the region. The commission emphasized its dedication to fostering partnerships and collective efforts aimed at improving the quality of life and advancing human rights initiatives.
During the meeting, NHRC officials participated in the Governance Committee meeting of the APF, where crucial discussions took place regarding the Directors Mid-term Report, Annual Operational Plan & Budget for the year 2024-25, and APF policies. These deliberations reflect NHRC’s proactive approach in contributing to regional governance and human rights frameworks.
In addition to their international engagements, NHRC India has been actively conducting awareness activities to promote and protect human rights within the country. One notable initiative is the commission’s monthly newsletter, which serves as a platform to disseminate information about human rights issues in India and highlight NHRC’s interventions and initiatives.
Through such proactive measures and collaborative endeavors, NHRC India continues to play a pivotal role in advocating for human rights, fostering regional partnerships, and ensuring the well-being and dignity of individuals across the Asia Pacific region.
