A 36-year-old woman from Nepal, daughter of a mayor in India’s neighboring country, who went missing on Monday, has been located, confirmed the police. She was found at a hotel in Mandrem, North Goa.
Her father, Gopal Hamal, reported his elder daughter, Aarti, missing on Monday, prompting the Goa police to register a case and launch a search operation. Aarti had been residing at an Osho meditation center in Goa for several months and was last seen near Ashwem Beach.
Gopal Hamal, mayor of Dhangadhi sub-metropolitan city, revealed that they received information from Aarti’s friend about losing contact with her. Despite attempts to reach her, there was no response, leading the family to notify the authorities.
“My elder daughter Aarti is an Osho meditator and has been living in Goa for the past few months. However, I received a message from her friend stating that she lost contact with Aarti near Zorba Beach, Ashwem yesterday. I request those living in Goa to assist in the search for my daughter, Aarti,” Mr. Hamal stated.
He also mentioned that his younger daughter, Arzoo, and son-in-law were flying to Goa to aid in the search efforts.
Aarti’s sister, Arzoo Hamal, provided updates on Facebook, noting that some callers reported sighting Aarti near a bridge in Siolim. Despite the assistance received, there was uncertainty about her whereabouts. An FIR was lodged, and the family remained hopeful of locating Aarti soon.
