In a shocking incident, Maria Denisa Paun, a 30-year-old escort who had gone missing on May 15, was found beheaded and hidden inside a suitcase in an abandoned farmhouse close to Montecatini Terme, a popular Italian holiday town some 25 miles west of Florence, police said.
Vasile Frumuzache, 32, a neighborhood security guard and fellow Romanian, has admitted to killing Paun. He told police he hacked her head off with a knife and set it on fire using gasoline after she threatened to tell his wife if he did not pay her after an intimate affair.

Married father-of-two Frumuzache informed officers that he met up with Paun after using a dating app and went to see her at a hotel where she was shot on the night she died. “She was blackmailing me, that’s why I killed her,” he is said to have declared.
He described, “When I informed her that I was a security guard and that I was married, she informed me that she could get to my wife.” He then proceeded to strangle her, cut up the body, put the pieces in a garbage bag, and afterwards in a suitcase.
Security tapes in the hotel record Frmuzache coming with the black bag on May 15 and departing two hours later with Paun’s white suitcase. Prosecutors verified that Paun’s body was in this suitcase.
There was speculation that Paun had been kidnapped by criminal gangs when she disappeared from Rome last month. Police monitored Frumuzache’s activities based on GPS records from his vehicle’s insurance device and followed them to the farmhouse early on Wednesday morning, where they discovered the severed head and the suitcase.
