Israel Calls Off Retaliatory Strikes on Iran, Following Phone Call With Biden: Reports

After Iran launched a series of drone strikes at Israel, Israel reportedly planned to retaliate against Tehran, but this was halted following a discussion between US President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The Biden administration urged Israel to avoid escalating tensions in the Middle East after successfully intercepting Iranian missiles and drones.

Despite intercepting over 300 drones and missiles, US officials advised against further retaliation. Israel’s war cabinet is scheduled to meet to assess a response to Iran’s attack. Netanyahu spoke with Biden after Iran’s drone launch, but details of their conversation were not disclosed.

Biden reaffirmed the US commitment to Israel’s security, emphasizing the need for caution in addressing the situation. Israel’s Defense Minister Yoav Gallant stated that the confrontation with Iran is ongoing, urging Israelis to remain vigilant.

Despite the attack, minimal damage was reported thanks to the IDF’s actions. Gallant, along with Netanyahu and Benny Gantz, makes up Israel’s war cabinet. Iran’s assault, consisting of 300 drones and missiles, triggered air raid sirens across Israel, with the IDF responding swiftly to intercept the projectiles.
