Dubai welcomes 3.67 million overnight visitors in January-February 2024

In January-February 2024, Dubai welcomed 3.67 million overnight visitors, marking an increase of more than 18 percent compared to the same period last year, according to data from the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET).

The DET’s Tourism Performance Report for January-February 2024 revealed that Dubai hosted 1.77 million international visitors in January and 1.9 million in February. Europe was the leading source of visitors during this period, accounting for 21 percent of the total, followed by South Asia with 17 percent, and Gulf Cooperation Council countries with 15 percent. The number of tourists from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and Eastern Europe reached 14 percent, while visitors from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region accounted for 12 percent.

Additionally, Dubai welcomed 9 percent of its visitors from North and Southeast Asia, 7 percent from the Americas, 4 percent from Africa, and around 1 percent from Australia.

The report also indicated an increase in the number of available hotel rooms from 148,450 in January-February 2023 to 151,269 in the same period of 2024, spread across 813 and 826 establishments, respectively. The average occupancy rate rose by 3 percent year-on-year, settling at 87 percent. The total number of occupied room nights increased to 7.78 million compared to 7.28 million in the same period last year, with an average stay of 3.8 nights in January-February 2024.
