Abu Dhabi Crown Prince visits Supreme Council for motherhood, childhood to mark Emirati Children’s Day

Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, visited the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood in Abu Dhabi to commemorate Emirati Children’s Day, celebrated annually on March 15. During his visit, Nahyan was briefed on the council’s ongoing efforts and initiatives to support motherhood and childcare, under the patronage of Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF).

He was informed about the council’s programs aimed at improving the well-being of mothers and children, particularly in education, health, culture, society, mental health, security, and safety. These programs include development plans, studies, and research to strengthen childcare and motherhood services.

Nahyan also met with members of the Children’s Advisory Council, the Emirati Children’s Parliament, and UNICEF’s Youth Climate Ambassadors for COP28, recognizing their role as exceptional role models and the leadership’s commitment to nurturing new generations for the nation’s progress. He emphasized the importance of investing in a secure and nurturing environment for children, highlighting their crucial role in the nation’s future.

The young members presented the council’s efforts to empower children, develop national policies and strategies for mothers and children’s rights, and enhance their quality of life. They also discussed cooperation with government and private entities to launch initiatives improving healthcare and education services for children.

Nahyan praised the council’s achievements, highlighting the leadership’s support for mothers and children. He was accompanied by Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Chairman of the Department of Community Development; Sara Awadh Issa Musallam, Minister of State for Early Education and Chairwoman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge; and Saif Saeed Ghobash, Secretary-General of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council.

Al Reem bint Abdullah Al Falasi, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, emphasized that the council, under Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak’s directives, works with partners to protect children’s rights, raise awareness about healthcare, early education, psychological and social development, and develop policies for future challenges. She confirmed the council’s commitment to ensuring the rights of mothers and children, providing the best services, and building a society that cares for them.
