Los Angeles [US], August 1 (ANI): In an unexpected opening, the first night of Lollapalooza 2026 turned up the heat, reportedly leaving audience members passing out during Lorde’s headlining set.

As per Deadline, the two-time Grammy-winning singer had to pause her performance midway to check on fans near the stage, who were seen losing consciousness. She even called security over to help them.

“You look hot from up here,” Lorde said as she addressed the packed crowd at her opening night set in Chicago. During her performance, Lorde delivered her hit numbers including “Royals’, ‘Supercut’, ‘Greenlight’, and ‘Ribs’ among others.

She also performed to Girl, So Confusing’, followed by a surprise appearance from Charli XCX, much to fans’ amusement.

The ‘Girl, So Confusing’ remix featuring Lorde came out in 2024 as a part of Charli’s ‘Brat and It’s Completely Different But Also Still Brat’ reissue.

Meanwhile, Lorde’s triumphant return to the Lollapalooza stage as a headliner came after she first performed at the music festival in 2014, shortly after breaking out with her two-time Grammy-winning debut single ‘Royals’.

Reflecting on her performance, Lorde shared a heartfelt note.

“Last night felt crazy, very out of body, doubting myself a bit, period due, dizzy in the heat. I am brutally hard on myself sometimes and almost never feel like I did good enough. I remember crying when we handed in melodrama because it was the best i could do and i didn’t think it was good enough! I’ve been reflecting a lot on this mechanism recently, and on how much i’ve given to my work in my life in order to feel my worth, feel seen and loved and like part of the human race,” a part of the post read.

In a recent, her fourth studio album ‘Virgin’ came out last summer.

Besides Lorde, the first day of Lollapalooza saw performances from the likes of Filipino boy band SB19, Bella Kay, Blood Orange, Little Simz, Boys Noize, Audrey Hobert, Sombr, 5 Seconds of Summer and Wet Leg, as per Billboard. (ANI)
