Jyoti Singh, Pawan Singh's wife, made serious charges against him. Addressing a press conference, Jyoti Singh alleged that the actor had given her abortion tablets and further stated that he had even tortured her.
Jyoti wondered if Pawan Singh actually wanted to have a child with her. "He's claiming that he wanted a child, but one who wants a child does not administer his wife medicine. I was being administered medicine each time, and I hadn't disclosed much to the media, but today Pawan Ji compelled me to. I'm not slandering Pawan; I'm simply telling my side. I'm telling the things about myself today." When Pawan Ji was giving me the medicine, and when I complained to him, he tortured me so badly that I took sleeping pills. I consumed 25 sleeping pills at 2 am," she added.
Jyoti further added that during that time, Pawan's brother, Ranu, and his colleague, Deepak, were present, who sent her to the Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital in Andheri, Mumbai. She further added that she was treated there. Jyoti also added, "He used to give me abortion pills."
Pawan, a newly reinstated BJP worker, on Wednesday reacted to the row over him and Jyoti. Addressing media persons, he had explained, as quoted by news agency ANI, "Our case has been pending in the court for the last 3-4 years. Why did you (wife Jyoti Singh) display affection only today?. What kind of affection is this? We can call it nothing but politics that you want to harass me." He accused his wife of showing love for him now so as to harass him, indicating that her actions are politically motivated.

Controversy started when Jyoti went to Pawan's house and collapsed. She leveled serious allegations against him. Pawan has since reacted with a social media statement, defending himself and raising questions over Jyoti's intentions.
Pawan explained that the police were at his home to ensure law and order and not because he had called them. He insisted that a rumor was spread and he was made to appear as if he had called the police. He blamed Jyoti for instigating a public conflict for her own ambitions and expressed that family conflicts should be kept confidential.
The divorce case of the couple has been running in court for the last 3-4 years, and Pawan claims that the recent show of affection is a ploy to seek attention.
