The fun began when Mahesh Babu tweeted directly to Rajamouli, reminding him about the “November treat” he had promised fans. What followed was a wave of clever replies that soon went viral. Rajamouli jokingly asked which movie review Mahesh was planning to post, to which Mahesh cheekily replied, “Your forever-in-the-making Mahabharata, sir.” His playful dig at Rajamouli’s much-talked-about dream project got even funnier when Priyanka Chopra Jonas jumped in, teasing that she might spill Mahesh’s on-set secrets. The interaction took a decisive turn when Mahesh himself revealed that Malayalam superstar Prithviraj Sukumaran is part of the film, a casting choice later confirmed through the group's continued jokes.

There are also strong rumors that the epic story might be split into two parts, with the second installment potentially arriving in 2029.
In a move that highlights their immense belief in the project, Mahesh Babu has taken a unique financial approach for SSMB29. Rajamouli, known for commanding one of the biggest paychecks in Indian cinema, has reportedly skipped his usual upfront fee this time. Instead, he has entered into a profit-sharing arrangement with the producers. The strategy aims to reduce the early budget strain — estimated at ₹1000 crore — so that more resources can enhance the film’s quality and vision. Sources say Mahesh Babu and Rajamouli will together receive around 40% of the profits once the film releases.
