Bollywood Actress Anushka Sharma debuted in 2008 with her blockbuster movie Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and has been primarily absent from the Bollywood big screen for over seven years her last major role was in the 2018 film Zero, with co-stars Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif.
Although she completed filming for her highly anticipated sports biopic, Chakda Xpress, in 2022, the movie has remained unreleased up to now.
However, following the Indian women’s cricket team’s recent historic World Cup victory, a strong push is now being made by the film’s team to finally launch the project, which has been kept on hold for years.
A recent report by Mid-Day indicates that the creators of Chakda Xpress have officially urged the top executives at Netflix, the platform that holds the movie’s streaming rights, to release the film.
The film’s extended delay is just because of internal conflicts and creative concerns. Reports suggest the movie has been stalled for years because the leadership at Netflix was reportedly not satisfied with the final outcome of the project.
Apart from that, the production house also exceeded the release of the movie because of its initial budget, which compounded the platform's concerns.
The significant success of the Indian women's cricket squad in the recent World Cup has brought renewed public and internal attention to the long-pending biopic.
This historic victory has led to a major discussion within the streaming platform. According to a separate source, internal meetings at Netflix have started, and the team is expected to conduct a final review this month to decide whether the movie can be released, possibly after some additional work is completed.
For those unfamiliar, Chakda Xpress is based on the remarkable life of the renowned fast bowler, Jhulan Goswami, with Anushka Sharma in the lead role, and is slated for a release exclusively on the Netflix platform.
