NEW DELHI: An exchange of fire between terrorists and the security forces began on late Friday night in the Chak Tapper Kreeri Pattan area of Baramulla in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to the officials, a joint operation based on specific intelligence input was launched by the Indian Army and J&K Police. Law enforcement and security forces are actively involved in the ongoing operation, while further details are awaited.
“Based on specific intelligence input regarding the presence of terrorists, a joint operation was launched by Indian Army and J&K Police on the intervening night of 13-14 September in general area Chak Tapar Kreeri, Baramulla,” Indian Army said.
“Contact was established and firefight ensued. Operation is in progress,” it added.
In a separate incident, two army soldiers died while two others were injured in an ongoing encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir. The encounter broke out earlier in the evening in Pingnal Dugadda forest area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district.
