An encounter took place between gangster and the police on Friday morning at Talwandi Bhai Chowk in Ferozepur. In this, gangster Gurpiyar Singh was shot in the leg, police arrested the gangster in injured condition and admitted him to Zira Civil Hospital. Gurpiyar is a close aide of terrorist Arshdeep Singh alias Arsh Dalla, who was recently declared a terrorist by the Union Home Ministry. He was wanted in many criminal cases. Gurpiyar had reached Talwandi Bhai to do a recce of Chauhan Jewellers. Arsh Dalla had demanded a ransom of about Rupees fifty lakh from Chauhan’s, which Chauhan refused to give. Police believe that he was also trying to kill someone, which has now been foiled by the police. The police was informed by the informer that gangster Gurpiyar Singh resident Talwandi Bhangerian had reached Talwandi Bhai to do recee. The police had cordoned off Talwandi Bhai and other places since Thursday evening. On Friday morning, when Gurpiyar reached near Talwani Bhai Chowk while riding a bike, the police signaled him to stop, he fired from his 38 bore revolver to escape. The police retaliated by firing at him, the bullet hit his legs. He was arrested in an injured condition and admitted to Zira Civil Hospital. Ferozpur Range DIG Ranjit Singh said that the police had received a tip-off that gangster Gurpiyar was planning to commit a major crime. CIA staff Zira, Talwandi Bhai Police and other security agencies were tracing the location of Gurpiyar since Thursday evening. This morning, as soon as Gurpiyar reached Talwandi Bhai Chowk on a bike, the police asked him to stop, but to escape from the police, he opened fire on the police. The police fired in retaliation.
