French President Emmanuel Macron congratulated India and said that New Delhi can count on Paris as a “trusted friend”, on the occasion of India’s 77th Independence Day.
Taking to his social media account, X (formerly known as Twitter), President Macron called Prime Minister Narendra Modi a “friend” and said that they had set new ambitions for Indio-French relations.
He wrote, “Congratulations to the Indian people on your Independence Day! A month ago in Paris, my friend @narendramodi and I set new Indo-French ambitions all the way to 2047, the centenary year of India’s Independence. India can count on France as a trusted friend and partner, always.”

President Macron also reshared his old video dated July 15, 2023, where he showcased the highlights of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 2-day official visit to France. Recently, PM Modi was on a two-day visit to France on 13 July 2023 and 14 July 2023.
Apart from France, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and the US’s Foreign Ministers also extended warm wishes to India on its Independence Day.
