The company aims to expand its reach significantly, targeting “high single digits” of patients with implanted devices by the year’s end.
The recent implantation follows earlier efforts, including the procedure conducted on Arizona resident Noland Arbaugh, which faced challenges. Musk and Neuralink executives discussed lessons learned and improvements planned for future surgeries to prevent setbacks. Measures include addressing electrode thread retraction issues, possibly caused by an air pocket, and improving thread placement accuracy on brain folds.
