A meeting, convened under the chairmanship of Vijay N. Zade, , Chief Electoral Officer, U.T. Chandigarh, adhering to the Election Commission of India’s directives, discussed the final publication of the electoral roll as of January 1, 2024, with political party representatives.
DVD copies of the final electoral roll were distributed to political party representatives, with Zade urging them to verify all electors’ names and supplement any omissions by submitting Form 6.
Political party representatives were further tasked with verifying areas with a significant number of Labour voters, ensuring their enrollment through Form 6 or addressing relocations with Form 7. Zade also requested scrutiny of VIP or celebrity voters in respective areas.
Additionally, representatives were asked to report any infrastructure issues observed at the 614 polling stations set up for the General Election to Lok Sabha 2024. They were encouraged to promote enrollment messages, especially targeting Labour voters, third-gender voters, PwD voters, and female voters, along with informing senior citizens about the facilities provided to those aged 80 and above.
Vinay Pratap Singh, IAS, Deputy Election Officer, briefed representatives about the ongoing EVM demonstration campaign in the city, where two vans showcase real-time voting experiences. Representatives received a two-month schedule for the EVM demonstration vans and were asked to suggest locations for organizing demonstration camps.
Political party representatives were also requested to appoint booth-level agents to verify the voter list. Overall, the representatives expressed satisfaction with the meeting and committed to verifying the roll and cooperating in enrolling any left-out voters.
Furthermore, Vijay N. Zade urged citizens to verify their names on the electoral roll through the ceochandigarh.gov.in website, the Voter Helpline App, or the Voter Portal. Citizens could check their names by providing their EPIC number, and the status would be accessible. Zade encouraged citizens to fill out Form 6 through the Voter Helpline App, the voter portal, or by submitting the form to their respective Booth Level Officer. A toll-free helpline at 1950 was provided for additional information.
