JEE Advanced 2024: Exam Day Essentials & Dress Code

IIT Madras is hosting the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Advanced 2024, with the institute having recently made the admit cards available for download. Candidates can access their hall tickets through the official JEE Advanced website at jeeadv.ac.in.

According to IIT Madras, the JEE Advanced 2024 exam is set to take place on May 26, 2024. Paper 1 will be conducted from 9 am to 12 pm, followed by Paper 2 scheduled from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm on the same day.

Guidelines for Exam Day: What You Need to Know

  • Admittance to the exam hall requires candidates to present their admit cards, as entry will not be permitted without them.
  • Students must present a valid original photo ID card, which can be one of the following: Aadhaar card, school/college/institute ID, driver’s license, voter ID, passport, PAN card, or a signed certificate with a photograph.
  • Candidate verification will be conducted at the center by both the invigilator and representatives from IIT. There will be no additional time allotted for completing the exam.
  • Engaging in unfair practices or impersonation during the exam will be treated as a severe offense and could result in legal consequences.
  • Mandatory security screening will be conducted for all candidates prior to entering the examination center.
  • Candidates may bring only pens, pencils, transparent bottles containing drinking water, a downloaded admit card, and an original photo identity card.
  • Prohibited items include smart/digital/programmable/analog watches, mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, earphones, microphones, pagers, health bands, or any other electronic gadgets, as well as printed/blank/handwritten papers, log tables, writing pads, scales, erasers, geometry/pencil-boxes, pouches, calculators, pen drives, electronic pens/scanners, wallets, handbags, cameras, goggles, or similar items.
  • Candidates are advised against wearing charms/taweez, metal items such as rings, bracelets, earrings, nose pins, chains/necklaces, pendants, badges, brooches, and clothing with large buttons. It is recommended that candidates wear open footwear like chappals and sandals.
  • Candidates are required to arrive at the examination center early and complete the necessary formalities as specified in the admit card.
  • Candidates who arrive at the examination center after the start of each paper (9 am for Paper 1 and 2:30 pm for Paper 2) will not be permitted to take the exam under any circumstances.
  • Candidates are not permitted to exit the examination hall before 12:00 pm for Paper 1 and before 5:30 pm for Paper 2.
  • Only candidates who have taken both Paper 1 and Paper 2 will have their responses evaluated/graded. Therefore, it is mandatory to appear for both Paper 1 and Paper 2.
